My current research focuses on how the mentally disabled spend their time and live in their communities. Currently, I am conducting research on users of psychiatric day care services who live in their communities. I administer questionnaire surveys to investigate the features of the lifestyles of mentally disabled people. The goal of the research is to elucidate how mentally disabled people who live a stable life in their communities spend each day. Japan is still behind western countries in supporting the daily lives (post-discharge support) of mentally disabled people. I hope that I help establish a support system for mentally disabled people through research. In the CIBoG program, I would like to acquire knowledge in a variety of academic fields not limited to my specialty or biomedical sciences such as informatics, through communications with graduate students and researchers in other fields. I will actively participate in trainings at partner institutions to become an internationally active specialist.
